Food nurtures the body, education tunes the intellect, and wisdom nurtures the Soul. The Soul also requires the grace and guidance of a Guru to activate and nourish it. Just as we feel happy and satisfied after a good meal, our Soul experiences complete contentment after assimilating the torrent of love and wisdom that flows incessantly from an enlightened being. That is why this spiritual communion is called ‘Satsang’.
Parama Pujya Shri Shri Nimishananda Guruji says – “Today, having a Guru and attending Satsangs has become a common practice with many. A Satsang is not actually as simple as it seems to be. It is in reality a deep sense of connectivity with the Self. ‘Sat’ means ‘awareness of our divine core’ and ‘Sang’ means ‘association or company’. Association with the Holy and the Wise will ignite this spark of awareness in us effortlessly. Reading scriptures or spiritual books, discussing or thinking about Divinity, practicing spiritual techniques or meditating is also Satsang, because we are reconnecting to our inner core - the Soul. This nourishes our mind and Soul and is the doorway to the Kingdom of God which is always within us.”
Though we cannot be in the physical presence of the Guru or attend Satsangs all the time, it is still possible to soak in the bliss of His divine vibrations by reading His books or listening to His recorded discourses everyday.
