Whenever you make a Sankalpa or Resolution, you have to use your intellect and keep reminding yourself – “I have made a strong Sankalpa. It will certainly work.” As you do this again and again, the Sankalpa grows stronger and stronger and its roots go deep into your mind. Otherwise it is like planting a seed in a beautifully decorated pot and continually raking the soil to see whether the seed has begun to sprout. How can the seed sprout when you keep raking the soil? It requires time to sprout. You should have firm faith in the natural capacity of the seed, water it and wait patiently. Likewise, have confidence in yourself, make the Sankalpa and hold it firmly in your mind till it is actualised.
Sankalpas are stronger if your thoughts are pure. There is a direct relationship between the purity of your thoughts and the strength of your Sankalpa. If your thoughts and feelings are good, divine and free from fear, doubt and suspicion, the Sankalpa you make is definitely much stronger. Once you make a Sankalpa, keep thinking about it everyday with an unshakable conviction that it will fructify, but mentally offer the fruits of your Sankalpa at the Lotus Feet of the Divine Mother. Then they will not bind you in any way.
